Most foreigners that come to Thailand on vacation or for business end up with girls in the bar scene. As a short time visitor to the Kingdom you don’t really have the best possibilities of meeting what we could call ‘mainstream’ Thai ladies.

Those that live in Thailand for longer periods of times such as expats, sometimes also have problems with meeting girls outside the expat bars and hangouts. Those that do, often meet their girlfriend or wives at work or on the internet.

There are major differences between these ‘mainstream’ ladies and those that frequent the bar and freelance scene. If you ever expect to get far with one of them you must know that they expect you to be faithfull, how to be polite and respectful of Thai culture. The reward for your efforts more than makes up for it. Thai ladies are incredibly warm, sweet and fun to be with.
There’s some things that are different from the west. When you are out in public with your date or even your girlfriend, you should be careful not to overdo physical contact. While handholding is ok, kissing in public is never. Take note of Thai couples if in doubt.

The dating scene is different in Thailand and the courtship process is more subtle. In Thailand, the guy is always expected to do the chase and the girls must play hard to get. Also remember that Thais are very aware of status, so if you have a nice car, boat or motorcycle, by all means show it off, but don’t make it the main focus. A good tip for finding a good picture is to ask a female friend, coworker or family member to choose between a few pictures.

Tip 4: Play to your positives, don’t tell your negatives

Put your best foot forward, dont show off your shortcomings on your profile, there will be plenty of opportunity to do so in your relationship!

Tip 5: Don’t brag and be polite

ThailandFriends is very popular in Bangkok. It is a community site, where the members blogs, tag each others profiles and such. The members also arrange meetups and events on the site.

It’s not a dating site as such, more like Facebook with a twist. You have to put more work into your profile and pictures and there are a lot of posers on there, more interested in e-credit than actually meeting up. Still its a good way to meet people.

Not dating sites, but sites such as www.tagged.com and www.hi5.com are popular with young thais.

Thai Love Links cultivates global connections between mostly Thai women and men living abroad. Men from all different parts of the world seem to join this site. Compared to other sites with a more traditional approach to cross-cultural marriages, this site has definite advantages.

For one thing, the atmosphere is more relaxed, you have direct contact between members, and you’ll also find some helpful features. For example, there’s built-in software to translate your emails. When you create a profile on ThaiLoveLinks, there are a quite a few mandatory fields to complete. You must describe yourself fully and fill out two freeform essays.

If I felt I wasn’t good enough at attracting Asian women in clubs, I would go there night after night trying to figure out what made some guys get the hot girls while others didn’t.
